Penn State at Iowa Delivers Big Ratings

There were a lot of households tuned in to the Iowa v Penn State game on Saturday. According to released TV ratings, 6.904M viewers tuned into the game that kicked off in the mid-afternoon window, the third-highest afternoon college football rating of the year.
The Oregon-Ohio State kicked off at noon eastern and the Alabama-Florida game began at 3:30 eastern. Iowa’s game against Penn State kicked off at 4PM eastern.
Through six weeks of the season, the Penn State at Iowa game is the sixth most-watched college football game of the year. The graphic shows the highest rated game for each week of the season thus far and then a pair of games that were not #1 in their week but rated higher than Penn State at Iowa (such as Auburn at Penn State and Penn State at Iowa). The Alabama at Texas A&M game took top honors for Week Six, but that game also had a prime time tv window compared to Iowa’s afternoon window.
Not surprisingly, the Iowa-Penn State game (now feud) posted the ninth-most viewers of any regular-season college football game on Fox, the network announced. There were 6.9 million viewers.
